Day Seventeen: Little Signs
Backtracking to today (Friday) from Saturday since I didn't get a chance to post - today was Chinese New Year dinner with Jeff's family, and we spent the rest of our evening giving Snowy her medicine (thankfully it went more smoothly than the morning did) and uh...watching Youtube videos. In retrospect I could have been a little less lazy, but after this hellish week, I feel entitled to it...
Anywho! I'm happy to report that the peanuts have been picked over once again, even though I wasn't there to see it happen. I haven't been spending a lot of time looking out my window this week, mostly because my mind has been filled with worry and occupied with other thoughts. But it's nice to sit down by the window from time to time and listen to the birds. I notice the sound of crows a lot more than I used to (for obvious reasons, they get meals from me every day), but lately I've been hearing songbirds too. Every time I think about including them in my feeding routine, I remember how low I am on peanuts right now and worry about falling too far down the rabbit hole, haha. I took a few books out at the library about birding and birdwatching, though, and the concept being likened to something like a scavenger hunt is really appealing! (You know...like Pokemon, minus the beatdowns.) I'm still interested! Just not sure where I'd place the feeders - I have to give some thought to that.
Speaking of checking books out at the library - I happen to be a page at the local library and sometimes find some really neat books returned to us by patrons. I was checking in some books from the book drop yesterday and found this one, much to my shock:

What are the odds! I mean, seriously! This sort of thing has been happening constantly, but this is too good! It's absolutely adorable in its own right, and I had to take it home with me and read it. These coincidences are everywhere though...but why? Is it really just a manifestation of my subconscious wanting to see these signs wherever I happen to be? Because this is just so specific...
Whatever the case may be, I get the feeling that the author and I would be friends, haha. Something something birds of a feather flocking together...! I do wish I had some friends who could share in this hobby with me...
